How to migrate your Skype chat history to Call.com

You can import your Skype phone numbers and easily migrate your Skype chat history to Call.com. It be displayed in a user-friendly way and prevent you to loose your important messages.

Importing Phone Numbers

We can transfer(port) Skype US and Canadian virtual phone numbers to Call.com so you can continue using your same phone number for calling and texting.

Email us at support@call.com where our customer care team will be happy to answer any questions you have, and then to manage your port with speed and the minimum of fuss. We need to know the number you like to transfer and the mobile number used to create your Call.com account.

Importing Chat History

In order to import your Chat history, use a Desktop device and follow theses steps:

Step 1: Export your Skype Data

1. Go to the export page on the Skype website: https://secure.skype.com/en/data-export
2. After login into your Skype account, select "Conversation" and "Files" and click on the "Submit request" button.

3. Once ready, download your .tar file and import it in Call.com

Step 2: Upload your Skype Data to Call.com

1. Log into your Call.com account using your browser or install the Web app on your PC or Mac (see Install Hybrid App).
2. Click your profile button on the bottom left and click the "Switch from Skype" button.

4. Click the "Upload .tar file" button and select you dowloaded Skype file. (We currently support up to 1GB limit for the .tar file you download from Microsoft)

5. After the upload starts, please, wait and follow the upload statuses. This process will take some time, and you will get a notification in the app when the Skype history is available.

6. All done, now you can check your Skype conversations in your Call.com app.
Conversations with your Skype contacts will be marked with the corresponding Skype logo

Delete your Skype Data

If you decide to delete all your imported Skype data, you can easily do it from the Import panel in your Account settings.

Additionally, you can delete or archive your Skype conversations one by one  (as for all other conversations as well) in the chat view.

You must confirm that you wish to delete all Skype data.

You cannot write messages to the imported Skype conversations. Depending on the amount of Skype users that move to Call.com, we may develop support for this in the near future.
If you do not see your Skype conversation in the list, you might need to scroll to the latest page as old conversations will be in the end of the list
